Caucasian lizard
Darevskia caucasicaAlso known as Caucasian Rock Lizard, Caucasian Wall Lizard
Caucasian lizards thrive in the rugged mountain scree and high-altitude cliffs of the Caucasus region. These agile climbers dart across sheer vertical rocks to hunt small insects and bask on sun-warmed stone outcroppings. During cold alpine winters, individuals hibernate deep within subterranean rock crevices until spring thaws return.
