Brilliant metallic blue wings spotted with white dots contrast dramatically with the crimson tip of the abdomen on this striking day-flying moth. These insects mimic wasps to ward off avian predators, a defense enhanced by the toxic cardiac glycosides their larvae sequester while feeding on oleander leaves. Females use ultrasonic acoustic signals rather than long-range pheromones to call mates during early morning hours.
