Tigers are powerful solitary hunters that patrol large territories marked by scent and claw scrapes on tree bark. They excel at swimming and frequently soak in rivers and waterholes during warm days, unlike most other big cats. Females raise litters of two to four cubs in dense thickets, teaching them ambush hunting techniques over two years before they disperse.
