Sweetbush

Bebbia juncea

Also known as Chuckwalla's Delight, Rush Bebbia

Sweetbush forms dense, rounded tangles of nearly leafless green stems adapted for photosynthesis while minimizing water loss under the harsh desert sun. Its small, golden-yellow flower heads emit a rich honey-like perfume that carries surprisingly far across rocky washes and canyons. This drought-tolerant shrub serves as a vital forage plant for desert reptiles and native pollinators during hot, dry stretches of the year.
