Blushing Bride Airplant
Tillandsia ionanthaAlso known as Sky Plant, Ionantha Air Plant
Blushing bride airplants cling to tree branches in dry tropical forests across Mexico and Central America, absorbing moisture and dissolved mineral dust directly through specialized silvery scales called trichomes. When preparing to bloom, the inner leaves shift from soft green to an intense crimson or magenta to attract pollinators to tiny tubular purple flowers. After flowering, the individual rosette gradually dies back while producing several clone offshoots around its base.
