Glossy Ibis

Glossy ibises stalk shallow freshwater wetlands and coastal marshes, probing deep into soft mud with their long, decurved bills. In breeding plumage, their dark reddish-brown feathers shimmer with iridescent emerald-green and violet sheens under bright sunlight. These gregarious waders nest in dense colonies among reeds or low shrubs, frequently flying in tight V-formations between feeding grounds.
