Russet Perchers are striking tropical dragonflies recognized by their broad, rich amber-brown wings tipped in clear crystal. Males stake out sunny clearings along forest streams and swampy glades, returning repeatedly to the same exposed twig to defend their territory. Nymphs hunt voraciously underwater before emerging onto streamside vegetation to transform into adults.
