Agile ground mantises are swift, low-slung predators that actively sprint across open dirt and rocks rather than waiting passively in shrubs. Their greyish-brown, mottled bodies blend seamlessly with dry soil, providing perfect concealment while stalking small insects. Females typically feature short, reduced wings, whereas males possess functional wings and occasionally fly to light sources on warm summer nights.
