Gobiraptor minutus

Gobiraptor minutus

Gobiraptor minutus was a small, bipedal oviraptorid dinosaur that roamed the river valleys and mesic floodplains of Late Cretaceous Mongolia. Unique among its contemporary relatives, it possessed an exceptionally thickened lower jaw and deep symphysis, suggesting an anatomical specialization for crushing tough food items. Although only known from a single juvenile fossil skeleton, its anatomy indicates that it occupied a distinct dietary niche within the lush, dinosaur-rich ecosystem of the Nemegt Formation.
