bog goldenrod
Solidago uliginosaAlso known as Northern Bog Goldenrod, Swamp Goldenrod
Bog goldenrod brightens acidic peatlands and wet meadows each late summer with narrow, wand-like spikes of vibrant yellow flowers. Its smooth, reddish stems rise directly from basal rosettes that remain submerged in damp moss during spring floods. Native bees, butterflies, and syrphid flies rely heavily on its nectar late in the season when few other wetland flowers remain active.
