Plant
Heartleaf Foamflower
Tiarella cordifoliaAlso known as Heart-leaved Foamflower, Allegheny Foamflower, False Miterwort, Coolwort
Heartleaf foamflower carpets damp forest floors with dense rosettes of lobed, maple-like foliage that turn rich bronze or burgundy as autumn approaches. In mid-spring, erect floral spikes erupt into airy bottlebrush clusters of starry white blossoms whose long stamens create the frothy, foamy texture that gives the plant its name. Spreading steadily via slender above-ground runners, it anchors rich woodland soils and provides vital early-season nectar for native woodland pollinators.
