Hop trefoil carpets dry pastures, roadsides, and lawns with vibrant yellow flower heads that resemble tiny hop cones as they mature and turn papery brown. Each compound leaf features three distinct leaflets, with the central leaflet sitting on a noticeably longer stalk than the side pair. As an essential summer nitrogen fixer, it enriches nutrient-poor soils while supplying abundant nectar to small solitary bees and butterflies.
