Lotus angustissimus
Lotus angustissimusAlso known as Slender Trefoil, Narrow-leaved Bird's-foot-trefoil
Slender bird's-foot-trefoil is a delicate, low-growing annual legume easily distinguished by its wiry, prostrate stems and slender leaflets. It typically bears small, bright yellow pea-like flowers singly or in pairs during the spring and summer months, which ripen into narrow, cylindrical seed pods. Like many members of the pea family, it enriches poor, well-drained soils through symbiotic nitrogen fixation, playing an early pioneer role on sandy coastal banks and sun-baked gravel plains.
