Moussier's Redstart

Moussier's redstarts are striking, compact flycatchers endemic to the shrublands and open pine-oak woodlands of North Africa's Atlas region. Males sport a vivid chestnut breast, black head with a prominent broad white eye-stripe, and a bright orange-red tail that twitches characteristically when perched. Females present softer buff and brownish tones, blending seamlessly into rocky slopes where they forage for small invertebrates and berries.
