Resident across high-altitude grasslands and fynbos, these fast-moving pollinators hover expertly or perch directly on floral stems to siphon nectar from deep flower tubes. They fiercely defend prime flowering patches against rival sunbirds, filling the air with sharp, metallic chipping calls.
