Rosary Vine
Ceropegia woodiiAlso known as Chain of Hearts, String of Hearts, Hearts-on-a-String, Sweetheart Vine
String of hearts produces thread-like purple stems lined with paired, heart-shaped leaves boasting silver-mottled upper surfaces and magenta undersides. Small aerial tubers form along stem nodes, storing moisture and anchoring growth where trailing vines contact soil. Specialized pinkish-purple lantern flowers temporarily trap small pollinating flies inside inflated bases until internal hair barriers relax.
