Baby rubber plants thrive as low-growing tropical epiphytes, spreading across humid forest floors and climbing tree trunks throughout Central and South America. Their thick, succulent-like leaves store moisture, allowing them to endure periods of dry conditions in the rainforest canopy. Compact spike-like inflorescences rise above the dense foliage, bearing tiny, petal-less flowers typical of the pepper family.
