Also known as Rattlesnake Weed, Whitemargin Spurge, White-margined Sandmat

Whitemargin sandmat forms dense, ground-hugging mats across arid soils, using a deep taproot to anchor into dry gravel and sand. Its small, rounded leaves are bordered by a crisp white margin, frame-like around tiny cup-shaped flower structures called cyathia. Like many spurges, the stems produce a bitter, irritating latex sap when broken to deter grazing herbivores.
