Autumn clematis is a vigorous woody vine that smothers surrounding foliage under a cascade of sweet-scented white blooms in late summer and early autumn. Each flower features four star-like sepals surrounding a prominent spray of stamens, attracting dozens of honeybees and native pollinators. Following pollination, the plant transforms into a striking cloud of silvery, feathery seed heads that persist well into winter.

Why it is dangerous
Contains protoanemonin, an oily glycoside that causes severe oral burning, blistering, gastrointestinal pain, and contact dermatitis upon skin exposure.
