Calliandra emarginata
Calliandra emarginataAlso known as Dwarf Powderpuff, Red Powderpuff, Miniature Powderpuff
Calliandra emarginata produces dramatic, hemispherical flower heads composed of dozens of vivid crimson or pink stamens resembling tiny powderpuffs. Native to Mexico and Central America, this evergreen shrub bears glossy, bipinnate leaves that fold inward at dusk or during periods of heavy rain. In warm climates, it blooms intermittently year-round, serving as an important nectar source for hummingbirds, bees, and long-tongued butterflies.
