Elegant bracket fungi form persistent, cream-colored shelf brackets on rotting logs and hardwood stumps across tropical and subtropical regions. The upper surface displays subtle concentric rings, while the underside features a complex, maze-like pore network that releases spores into passing breezes. By breaking down tough lignin in dead wood, these fungi recycle vital nutrients back into forest soils.
