Streamer-tailed tyrants patrol open marshlands and wet savannas, frequently perching atop exposed reed stalks, fence posts, or low shrubs to scan for passing prey. Pairs defend territories year-round, greeting each other with chattering calls and undulating aerial displays where their deeply forked tail feathers spread wide. They capture most food through agile midair sallies, snatching dragonflies and beetles before looping gracefully back to their perch.
