Indochinese green magpies move through humid subtropical forests in active family parties, maintaining constant contact with sharp, flute-like calls. Their brilliant apple-green plumage stems from yellow carotenoid pigments layered over structural blue, which can fade to striking sky-blue if dietary nutrients are lacking or under intense sunlight. Intelligent and adaptable like most corvids, they forage relentlessly through dense canopy foliage and vine tangles for small animals, berries, and eggs.
