Budgerigar

Also known as Budgie, Shell Parakeet, Common Parakeet

Budgerigars are nomadic, highly social parrots that sweep across arid inland Australia in massive, chattering flocks searching for water and seeding grasses. In the wild, adults display bright green and yellow plumage with black scalloped markings, using complex vocalizations to maintain flock cohesion and court mates. Able to breed opportunistically following heavy rainstorms, they nest in tree hollows and raise large broods with remarkable speed.
