Dugites are agile, diurnal hunters adapted to coastal dunes, woodlands, and urban fringes across southwestern Australia. When threatened, they raise their forebody in an S-shaped curve while flattening their neck slightly, striking defensively if pressed. Their remarkable adaptability allows them to thrive near human habitation, where house mice and introduced rats provide abundant prey.
