Masked palm civets are agile, tree-dwelling nocturnal mammals recognizable by the stark white vertical streak down their nose flanked by black eye patches. They spend their nights navigating the upper forest canopy in search of ripe figs, fruits, small vertebrates, and insects, serving as crucial seed dispersers across Asian forest ecosystems. When threatened or startled, specialized scent glands near the tail secrete a foul-smelling musk to deter intruders.
