During the monsoon season, male Indian bullfrogs undergo a dramatic transformation, changing from drab olive-green to luminous neon yellow with bright cobalt-blue vocal sacs to attract mates. These opportunistic predators sit near the water's edge to ambush almost anything small enough to swallow, including insects, small mammals, snakes, and smaller amphibians. Outside their native range, their voracious appetite and high reproductive output make them a severe invasive threat to native wetland ecosystems.
