Little Grass Frog

As North America's smallest frog, these tiny amphibians often measure less than two centimeters in length and feature a distinct dark stripe running straight through each eye down the flank. They cling to low stems of sedges and grass near shallow, ephemeral wetlands where males produce a rapid, high-pitched tinkling call that sounds remarkably like a cricket. Their diminutive size allows them to hunt exceptionally small invertebrates that larger amphibians overlook.
