South American Horned Frog

Boie's horned frogs excel at crypsis, blending seamlessly into the leaf litter of Brazil's Atlantic Forest with dark patterns and fleshy horn-like projections above each eye. They remain motionless as sit-and-wait ambush predators, snapping up invertebrates and small vertebrates that wander within striking range. Males call from damp forest floors near streams, producing low-pitched calls during wet nights.
