Norway Pout
Trisopterus esmarkiiAlso known as Esmark's Codling, Norway Codling
Norway pout form massive, dense schools in the cold, deep waters of the northeast Atlantic, serving as a vital trophic link between planktonic crustaceans and larger predatory fish. These slender, silvery cod relatives migrate vertically each day, rising toward the surface at night to feed and retreating to the safety of the seabed during daylight hours. Though small and short-lived, their sheer abundance makes them a cornerstone of the North Sea food web.
