Greenland Cod
Gadus ogacAlso known as Ogac, Greenland Rock Cod, Rock Cod
Greenland cod patrol the chilly, shallow coastal waters of the Arctic and northwest Atlantic, hugging the rocky sea floor where they blend in with mottled brown and grey coloration. These heavy-bodied predators are opportunistic feeders, vacuuming up crabs, mollusks, and smaller fish from the substrate. Unlike their deep-water Atlantic cousins, they prefer inshore habitats like fjords and estuaries, rarely venturing far from the continental shelf.
