Nile Perch

Also known as African Snook, Goliath Perch, Victoria Perch, African Barramundi

Nile perch are formidable freshwater predators that rule the open waters and deep river channels of tropical Africa. Equipped with large mouths, sharp gill plates, and keen night vision, adults hunt fish relentlessly and can grow to monumental proportions. Their introduction into Lake Victoria during the mid twentieth century dramatically reshaped the local ecology, driving hundreds of endemic cichlid species to near extinction.
