Leopard slugs are renowned for their striking spotted patterns and extraordinary aerial mating ritual, during which pairs suspend themselves upside down from a single thick slime thread. Active mostly at night or after rain, these large terrestrial mollusks glide over surfaces using a lubricated trail of secreted mucus. They serve as valuable garden allies by consuming decaying plant matter, fungi, and even other agricultural pest slugs.
