Perigenes constrictus thrives concealed among decaying leaf litter and detritus, searching out fallen seeds with its piercing-sucking mouthparts. Mottled dark brown and black coloration provides exceptional camouflage against earthy forest floors and field margins. Adults often disperse by flight on warm summer evenings and overwinter beneath loose bark or deep vegetation mulch.
