Sachem skippers are energetic grass skippers recognizable by their rapid, darting flight across lawns and sunny meadows. Males sport a distinctive black square felt patch, known as a stigma, centered on their bright orange forewings. Females are noticeably darker brown with pale yellow square spots, making them look almost like a different species.
