White-dotted Prominent moths feature warm tawny-orange forewings marked with a pair of distinct tiny white spots and a conspicuous furry thoracic crest. Their chunky, lime-green caterpillars feed on broadleaf trees, sporting a oversized rounded head capsule and faint yellow side lines. Active from late spring through late summer, adults fly after dusk and spend the daytime resting camouflaged among dead oak leaves.
