Two-striped mermirias feature a strikingly elongated head with slant-faced mouthparts and prominent dark stripes extending down the sides of their slender bodies. They dwell primarily among dense tallgrasses, perching vertically on plant stems to blend seamlessly into their grassy surroundings. Females are noticeably larger than males and lay clusters of eggs in the soil that overwinter until spring warmth triggers hatching.
