Asian pintails feature a remarkably shaped abdomen that swells broadly at the base before abruptly tapering into a slender pintail. Males display intricate marbled blue and black patterning across the body, while females show warm yellow-green tones. They flutter weakly among floating weeds and reed stems in quiet ponds, marshes, and rice paddies across tropical Asia.
