Originating in the rugged mountain valleys of the Hindu Kush, this compact annual herb features broad, dark green leaflets and a dense branching habit. Resinous glands coat the flowering tops, producing high concentrations of aromatic cannabinoids and terpenes designed to shield the plant from harsh ultraviolet radiation. Cultivated varieties are grown worldwide for traditional medicine, research, and resin production.
