Green Stink Bug

Bright green shield-shaped bodies give green stink bugs a distinctive, leaf-like appearance in fields, gardens, and forest edges across North America. When threatened or crushed, adults release a pungent chemical cocktail from specialized thoracic glands to deter predators. Females deposit clusters of barrel-shaped eggs on the undersides of host plant leaves, where emerging nymphs undergo five molts before reaching adulthood.
